In fairness to Harfington my 2010 Mercedes SLK300 was NOT listed as a specific fit for this shift knob. My only complaint could be that it was difficult to get Harfington to communicate with me on whether or not it would fit my car... but I decided to take the change.
When I tried to attach it, the 12mm shaft was correct... but the square fitting at the end of the shaft would not fit into the square receptable of the shift knob. It was at most 1mm to wide. So I ground it down and it did then fit on top of the shifter nicely.
However the next problem was the retaining ring for the boot. While it would attach to the shift knob before you pressed it in... when you tried to depress the knob onto the shaft the retainer was TOO SMALL to go over the shaft.
So I reused the old retainer ring from the previous shifter to hold the boot to the new Knob.
By a miracle...all of that actually worked. I like the shift knob quality... it was my risk to try this out but honestly I was out of options and didn't have any other vendor having a shift knob that looked almost exactly like the OEM that I have. End of the day... it was a little work, but worth the risk.
Marking as 3 stars only because I think the supplier should be a little more accessible to whether or not this would fit my car. Even if the answer was no. But it all worked out in the end.
